Winter Coats 2018: My Favourite Styles (And No Black In Sight)
Call me crazy, but I like winter! I enjoy that Melbourne has four distinct seasons. And that it gets cold enough to wear my favourite winter coats, of course.
This year I’ve got my eye on several winter coats, because a corporate girl really should have at least one new coat each year. If I’m struggling through gusty winds in Melbourne’s CBD in winter I want a good coat for a little warmth.
These are my favourites (so far).
Meghan Markle inspired camel coat
This winter coat from Review is similar to what Meghan wore with Harry and the family at a church service on Christmas day in 2017. (It doesn’t have the sleeve trim and it’s a bit shorter.) Otherwise, if you want the real thing, you can still get it – for about two thousand dollars of course. It’s from the label Sentaler. You’ll have to get your own handsome prince, I’m afraid.
Ochre Coat
For louder coats that I won’t be wearing every day, I tend to go for a lower price point. Forever New have a good range of latest fashion winter coats this season. I adore the bright colour of this one. It is perfect for days when I’m tired of Melbourne grey skies and all-black outfits.
Bianca Spender Winter Coat
How lush is this coat? I love that it’s a modern take on the traditional tartan coat. Sometimes tartan can make us ladies look like our grannies, but this wider tartan pattern gets my tick of approval.
With its bright yet subtle tartan, collarless trim and flared skirt, I haven’t felt this way about an coat for a long time. Plus it is on sale at David Jones right now – get in quick.
Kathmandu Winter Coat
Now that my kids are playing sport in winter I’m realising that an industrial strength coat is a must. It is so cold standing by the sidelines and I need all the technology I can get to keep warm. After a quick survey of more experienced sport-watching parents, I quickly learned that Kathmandu is the go-to brand for such occasions. This coat has more features than my smartphone. And it has an impressive little pocket for that phone, so I can listen to podcasts while I shout encouragement.
Decjuba Floral Bomber Jacket
Decjuba is most reliable when it comes to casual wear. I love this floral bomber jacket. Not sure where I would wear it, but that’s besides the point, isn’t it?
Hope you find some inspiration for your winter wardrobe!
Cheers
