Pearl trio cufflinks – design inspiration and style guide
Here’s the second in our Miss Links style guide series, where we give you the style inspiration for rocking our cufflinks with confidence in the office.
Today’s selection: the lovely pearl trio set. With Swarovski pearls (who knew they did more than crystals?) this simple trio comes in three colours: soft rosy pink, delicate cream or dramatic grey. Which will you choose?
Pearl trio cufflinks: design inspiration
“When I was playing with initial sketches, I was looking for feminine elements, because the market was flooded with masculine cufflinks like squares and discs. For me, pearls have always been classic and elegant,” says our founder Dianna Butterworth. “I toyed with a single pearl but due to sizing they just weren’t big enough to hold together a French cuff. Plus, pearls look best clustered together. When I created the trio I found the perfect blend combination of size, style and glamour.”
Classic elegance of pearls
“For this range of cufflinks, I had Jackie Kennedy in mind. To me, she represents the timeless glamour and elegance of pearls. Her simple silhouettes, rich hues and pillarbox hats are styles that are still emulated today.”
Styling the pearl trio cufflink: simple and elegant
We’re starting with a classic black dress. We love this version from Jigsaw, but any simple black sheath dress will do as long as the neckline permits wearing a French cuff shirt underneath. So, don’t choose anything too high in the neck, or you’ll feel a bit constricted.
To make the cufflinks pop, we’re pairing the black dress with a black French cuff shirt. (A white shirt under a black dress looks great too, but in this case we want the cufflinks to stand out.) So black on black it is.
We used Sumissura, a site that allows you to create your own shirt, selecting collar, sleeves, cuffs (French of course) and dozens of lovely fabrics. Because it’s made to measure, you know you’ll get the right fit.
Then of course, pair it with your favourite pearl trio. We think the paler shades of cream will stand out beautifully with the black cotton as the backdrop. (Or, go for the white shirt and pair it with the grey.)
Accessories maketh the outfit
We’re keeping it simple so the pearl trio can be the hero. These Tiffany drop pearl earrings are ideal. With your hair slicked back or in a low ponytail, these add a touch of interest away from the neckline and support the pearl theme.
It’s getting chilly in Melbourne, so we’d be amiss to suggest a bare-legged look. If you’re going to wear tights, invest in quality so you can stay comfortable during your busy day. We suggest Wolfords (these Naked 8 tights come in a range of diverse shades).
We’ve chosen a black pump with a touch of difference. The embossed leather on this Nine West heel gives a snakeskin effect which keeps this old-school inspired outfit modern and fresh.
And, because why not? Consider this lovely Chanel tote. If you have the means, you’ll be enjoying it for decades thanks to its timeless style.
Top the look off with your favourite oversized sunglasses and a classic black trench coat and you’re good to go.
Too much black?
This is Melbourne, darlings, this is what we wear.

Ps: fun fact: when we first launched Miss Links we gave each cufflink a name – the pink pearl trio was Josephine (for Dianna’s mother), the grey was Lydia (for the model in our first photo shoot) and the cream was Elizabeth, for Elizabeth Taylor.
